THE LIGHTHOUSE OF THE ATLANTIC SHORE

About Us

Welcome to the Virginia Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church. We’re glad you’re here, and we can’t wait to meet you. Whether you are visiting the area or looking to find a new church home, we look forward to getting to know you in person or online.

We invite you to explore this website for resources that will help you in your spiritual journey.  Search our Resources section for Bible studies, inspiring videos, and informative articles. You can get a flavor of our services through the videos and pictures  we post on our Facebook page as well as YouTube, or you can accept our invitation and join us for one of our services or an event posted on the calendar

WHY THIS CHURCH?

You may be wondering, “Of the many churches in Virginia Beach, why should I come to this church?” Well, if you are looking for a church that is full of people who desire to serve and glorify God, then you have found the right place.

From the moment you walk through the door and are welcomed by our greeters, you will feel the warmth and friendship of our congregation. We look forward to offering you a hearty welcome.

You will likely see some of our children and youth up on the platform–we are proud to involve our younger generations. You may also notice the variety of ethic backgrounds of our members. We are a multicultural church and welcome individuals of many different nationalities. Visit our About Us page for a list of many of our member’s countries of origin.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our service is attended by 100-125 individuals per week and includes a variety of worship styles and cultures. When the service ends, typically around 12:15. About twice a month we invite you to join us for one of our international lunches where you can go around the world in one meal.

Expect to be greeted at the door by our spiffy dressed (and sometimes goofy) greeters. If you show up at 9:30 am, you can join us for a group praise time and devotional. At 10 am, we separate for group Bible study (we call it Sabbath School). If you have children with you, we have classes for them too. Just ask one of the greeters which class you should send them to. As far as attire goes, you will see a wide variety of styles. From formal to quite casual, we care about you, not what you're wearing. We hope that you will feel the warmth and friendship of our congregation.

What will you be doing this Saturday morning? We hope that you will be spending it with us at the Virginia Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church.

So what are you waiting for? Come this Saturday and see for yourself what the Virginia Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church is all about.

Location

Our church building is conveniently located at 4136 Holland Road in Virginia Beach, about 2 miles south of Town Center. Because of our location, we love to worship with those on a getaway and meet people from different places. We invite you to join us as we draw closer to God together.

MANY CULTURES, ONE GOD

Our church family consists of a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. As a part of the 18 million member world wide family of Seventh-day Adventist believers, we have attendees from places such as North, Central, and South America, China, India, Korea, the Philippines, Syria, and the West Indies. Though diverse in heritage, we unite under the God we worship and serve.

THE LIGHTHOUSE OF THE ATLANTIC SHORE

We strive to be that “city set on a hill” Jesus talked about in Matthew 5:14. We desire to “let [our] light shine before others…” (Matt. 5:16), showing them to “…the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Realizing that we live in a world that needs to know about Jesus, our goal is to show people the way to a personal God who loves them, cares for them, and calls them His own. Read more about that God in this article entitled "My Whole Life."

ABOUT SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS

adventist.org
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura–the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to call all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ, to proclaim the everlasting gospel embraced by the three angels’ messages (Revelation 14:6-12), and to prepare the world for Christ’s soon return.

FUNDAMENTAL BELIEFS OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

Seventh-day Adventists are a Christian denomination who accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture. More >>
